About
Perrine Davari is an artist living and working in London.
Primarily a figurative painter, the people she paints are positioned in everyday environments, thinly painted in oils in a mix of realism and surrealism that chronicle her personal observations of the human experience.
Born in 1994 to French and Iranian parents in London, Perrine gained an MA in Fine Art (Hons) from The University of Edinburgh.
Alongside studies of Orientalism in the history of art, she specialised in painting at the Edinburgh College of Art, with a particular interest in anatomy and figurative drawing.
Inspired by her French-Iranian heritage and evocative of the Persian Miniature, her paintings tell stories of animated characters with inner emotions, formed with a strong use of line that is almost calligraphic in nature, and with the backdrop of complex patterns from tiles to textiles to architectural forms.
Having lived in France, Malaysia, as well as the UK, she paints expressively with an aim to paint everyday life and experiences that normal people can see themselves in, imbued with references to cultural history, politics, and elements of magical realism.
